UNICON XV in New Zealand in 2009/2010

Just announced! Wellington, New Zealand will be the host for UNICON XV from 27 December 2009 to 7 Jan 2010 - it's so close, there's no reason for you not to be there! The Kiwis are planning a full complement of events so get preparing! See what goes on in Wellington

As Unicon XV is going to be in 2009, the AUS will be considering plans for the next Uninats to ensure we don't run them too close together but still make sure that the Australian team is on top-form for Unicon!

NSW - Revesby unicycling club now meeting weekly

Unicycle Revesby is now meeting every Saturdays from 1 - 2:30pm, at the Revesby YMCA, 184 River Road, Revesby NSW. The cost is $5 - bring plastic pedals and maybe a helmet. Come along for a ride around and then, hopefully, a half hour friendly hockey game. All unicyclists welcome! Contact Ashley Curtis - 0414 321 150 - for more information.

Come riding in the Apple Isle

Tasmania boasts a group of about 15 unicyclists. If you are a unicyclist living in Tasmania or planning to holiday there, contact Karin Gill to meet up with other riders. They also have a variety of unicycles for sale and for hire.

Kiwi unicycle champion makes local news in Dubbo

Kiwi long distance unicycle champion, Dr Ken Looi, has been working around eastern Australia, most recently at Dubbo Base Hospital, where he's made the local papers for his unicycling and charity fundraising rides for Oxfam. Ken has set two world records - one for riding his Coker 814 times around the Basin Reserve in Wellington, New Zealand - a distance of over 378 kms, and the second for riding 25.6km in one hour. Unicycling has also taken Ken around the world with rides in Iceland, Nepal, Japan and Vietnam. See the full article online.

UNICON XI

The International Unicycling Convention and Championships will be held in in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, Denmark from 26 July to 4 August 2008. The draft program is available, as well as information about registering, facilities, accommodation etc. from the UNICON website

Unicycle Africa safari

Fancy something completely different? The first ever Unicycle tour in Africa - Kenya and Tanzania in June 2009 is being planned by Escape Adventures - a commercial company:

  • this trip will travel through Kenya and Tanzania on a 16 day ride from Nairobi to Dar es Salaam

  • if you currently ride a unicycle or have been planning to learn please contact the company for more information and to register your interest

  • there will be a max group size of 10, plus the Escape team so if interest exceeds this, the company will run a second tour in July 2009.
